Personal: Goodbye 2014

Both in 2012 and 2013, I rounded off my year by doing what I do best, spilling my guts about it on the internet. So that's what this post is going to be. This is perhaps for my benefit as much as it is for yours. I like to entertain the idea when I'm old, I'll read back through my blog and reminisce on the 'good times.' But then I said that about my old Bebo page too..
Personal Life
Asides from drinking copious amounts of tea and consuming tv shows on Netflix like they were oxygen, I achieved quite a bit in 2014. I passed my second year at University, with a 2.1 no less, and I wasn't the only one surprised by this result. I moved out once and attempted to move in no less than three times to my current residence (third times a charm). I had not one, but three total meltdowns. We are talking earth shattering screams, £200 last minute flights, trashing my room and gorging on pizza meltdowns. It wasn't pretty, but I'm as tough as old boots, and I'm still here. I partook in the 'Happy- We Are From Brighton,' props if you spot me, dancing in an Alice In Wonderland dress.

Travelling Life
I played ultimate frisbee in Ireland and Italy (even if the latter was only for a day), and visited the north of the UK for the first time- stopping in Newcastle and Harrogate. I cruised around the Aegean Sea (here, here and here), experiencing the white roofs of Santorini, visiting Turkey and being wowed by Istanbul, visiting a harem and of course, falling down the stairs of the amphitheatre in Ephesus. I fell in love with Amsterdam and experienced everything it had to offer, from the nightlife, to the canals, the museums and gallerys, the infamous cafes and red light district and even visiting a peep show- cheeky! Oh, and I nearly made it to the USA, but we won't talk about that...

Blogging Life
The Camera's Lying surpassed 2000 on bloglovin and GFC combined. It was nominated for a Cosmo Blog Award and saw me write a total of 129 blog posts, including this one, makes it a nice, round 130, and believe me, that's a lot of hours... I used 4 different cameras to take my blog photos, and utilised long suffering house-mates, parents and siblings to help photograph outfits. I got to experience being driven around Silverstone Race Course by a professional female racer with Benefit. I visited London's first cat cafe and took my Mum to her first blogging event. Oh, and I met Fearne Cotton, no biggy.

YouTube Life
YouTube took off this year and saw me go from a beauty vlogger to a more general (and much happier) internet personality. I released my first cover videos.  I went to Summer In The City and signed with Premier. This saw me go to not one, but two Premieres (and world premieres, no less!) I attended a Candy Crush launch party, and so much fun. I've met amazing people through YouTube this year, and I couln't be more grateful.

So here's to 2014 and to the back of it, lets smash 2015 together. Page 365 of 365.

Outfit: My Favourite Outfits of 2014

Outfit: Scuba Coat & Blue Wedges

IMG_2870
I'm finally back, with an outfit post for you. December I was faced with 'what I call' (Miranda reference) "blog anxiety" where I was afraid to post outfit of the day photographs. In time for the new year, I'm turning over a new leaf and pretending I don't care, until I really don't care. I decided to go back to basics for this post- an outfit nearly entirely made up of Primark items. You can't really gofar wrong there, can you?

I couldn't tell you which part of this outfit I love the most, the retro acid wash jeans, the bright blue shoes perfectly clashing with the pink or the scuba material of my new favourite coat. Lets just say it's an outfit that works together in perfect harmony and I never want to take it off... Ever.

I took this photos in my drive, next to my Mini Park Lane, a car my Dad has been working on for me since I was 15, it's so close to completion now I can smell the petrol! My Dad's comment when he saw these photos was 'too much you, not enough car.' Fair play, fair play.

Event: The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies Premiere

I've always been both a Peter Jackson and J. R. R. Tolkien fan, I've read the books and kept up to date with all the films, so I was excited and saddened to see the final film in The Hobbit trilogy: The Battle of The Five Armies. I knew I was going to see it in cinema, as soon as it came out, but I never expected to be walking down the red (or in this case, green) carpet at the world premiere of the final instalment.

I found out I was going to the premiere just a few hours before I was due to walk the carpet, so my outfit and makeup was a last minute job. I barely had enough time to phone my parents and squeal down the phone in excitement before the premiere was under way. My outfit consisted of a Fearne Cotton for Very dress, and a lot of Primark- yep, I rocked Primark at a world premiere!

I walked the carpet with some of the best people I know: Trent, Luke, Lewis, Sam and our managers Talie and Rebecca.Above, you can see our 'Oscar style' selfie. This time around we were allowed our phones, and tweeted our experience with the #OneLastTime. The carpet was green and flanked with Middle Earth scenery and flaming torches, the whole thing felt so exciting, as if we were going on our own unexpected journey.
As with my previous red carpet experience, it went by in an exciting, surreal flash. Everywhere you turned there was another exciting cast member (my personal highlights included grabbing a selfie with Lewis and Sir Ian Mckellen in the background, and walking past the magic maker, Peter Jackson himself) or fan in the crowd, cos-playing characters. If you'd like to see more, you can watch my vlog of the red carpet, here!

The film itself was an emotional roller coaster, with laugh out loud moments to heart wrenching scenes, it had it all. The acting was fabulous, and the sets and costumes as always, transported you to Middle Earth with such conviction. There really is no other word to describe the trilogy with, but 'epic!'

I'd like to thank my manager, Talie, the Premier team and of course Warner Bros for inviting me along to the premiere. I had a magical time, and I have made so many incredible memories.

Personal: I'm a Blogger, but I'm not a size 8

I've never been the girl who cycles, endlessly through her entire wardrobe, before stepping back, weepy and exhausted to see the destruction that has inevitably become. Clothes all over the floor, shirts crumpled, tights pulled on and off, left inside out, discarded and rejected. But the past few weeks that girl has been me.

Today I stayed in, comfortable in my pyjamas and missed a night out and a Christmas meal with some very good friends of mine, purely because I felt embarrassed and self concious in everything I put on. I felt sick at the thought of leaving the house, having people look at me, wondering, if they are judging me for my size, for trying to squeeze my thighs into a pencil skirt. I missed out.

I haven't been very active on my blog of late, purely for the reason the thought of taking photos of myself sickens me to my stomach. I've never been a size 6 model, but I've never looked in the mirror and hated the skin I'm in, up until now.

I feel like my own flesh is a prison, I'm stuck in this body that doesn't look good in a mini skirt, that can't rock a bodycon dress, that arches it's back to try to hide from the world rather than walking tall. It's miserable. For someone who loves clothes and fashion, I can count on one hand the amount of clothing items I wear on a daily basis, these days. My lived in smock dress that 'skims over the chub,' my boyfriend jeans that are so baggy, you can't see the size of my thighs and oversized jumpers that do nothing for me.

The more I loath my body and the way I look, the more I withdraw from the blogging world. Every bloglovin' post seems to jeer at me 'look at this seasons must have item that you won't be able to pull off' and 'look at how confident I am in myself.' I like to torture myself with it, none the less. To look at the models, the skinny bloggers, the naturally petite girls until the tears are running down my face and I inevitably turn to food for comfort and oblivion.

This post isn't an excuse, nor is it a promise to myself to try harder, to love who I am. Rather, it's is brain vomit, because expressing myself through this space on the internet is what I am best at. I wish I could love myself, unconditionally and unapologetically but for now I can't. So, Amy, I am sorry for that.
