They all tell me to dump my boyfriend

IMG_0309
Today's outfit post is what I wore to the Motel Rock's #Motelfestival event, of which I will be posting about tomorrow, so prepare your eyeballs! I wanted to wear Motel Rocks to the Motel Rocks event and chose this beautiful smock dress for two reasons 1) the smock dress hides the multitudes of Easter egg sins I'm carrying around with me... and 2) Its gingham and if you've been hiding under a rock recently, you may have missed the news flash that gingham is officially in again, and I'm loving it.

Of course I had to pair the dress with my new favourite shoes, from Glamorous, my pastel Primark camera bag and a leather jacket. The event was absolutely great and I think my outfit was perfect (I snuck Converse on for the journey there and back- cheeky).

I got 99 problems but you won't be one

IMG_0326
Gingham and a cleated sole? Well, this outfit really does have it all, doesn't it? I purchased this little cropped beauty from Topshop at the weekend for £18 and immediately wanted to style it up. Its super cute, but the extreme crop makes it a bit more edgy, especially with the huge platform shoes, which coincidentally haven't left my feet since I got them. They are surprisingly comfortable and really easy to walk in.

These Primark jeans. Okay, I'll just end the blog post there shall? No, I jest.. But seriously, these jeans are my favourite go to piece right now. Just £13 small pounds from Primark for the cutest pastel blue, gingham skinny jeans. Its love! I'm also embarrassed to admit, you may be seeing a lot of pastel and gingham in up coming blog posts! I hope you don't mind... I just feel so fresh and 'Spring' in them.

Tanya Burr's Lips & Nails Lipgloss Review

Everyone's favourite youtuber, Tanya Burr, has brought out her own line of lipglosses and nail polishes in a collection with Eye Candy, titled 'Tanya Burr's Lips and Nails.' I snapped up two of the lipglosses from my local Superdrug for £6.99 each. The price point is accessible for all age groups and pretty average for a drugstore lipgloss. The packaging is classy, cute and I love that it has Tanya's signature on it, making it truly personal to her. I'm so impressed by Tanya's collection and I'm really happy to see a youtuber achieve so much! Congratulations to you, Tanya!

The First shade I purchased is 'Smile, Dream, Sparkle.' As the name suggests its very sparkly, the perfect top coat for a pink lipstick for a night out. The gloss itself is a sheer pink, not something I'd choose to wear without a lipstick underneath, however the blue sparkly flecks make your teeth look really white, making this gloss the perfect night out partner for your lipstick. Smile, Dream, Sparkle adds a lil'somthin'somthin' to your lips and smells great (like strawberries- yum!)

The second gloss I purchased is Aurora, which also smells of strawberries. This gloss is a thicker, more pigmented gloss- perfect to wear alone, everyday. It would be a lovely gloss to pop in your bag for school or work as its a great peachy pink, not too over the top, with a tiny bit of shimmer in it.

The formula of Tanya's glosses are long lasting and non-sticky which is a massive bonus. I love the sponge applicator, which is the perfect size to make on the go application easy!

Taking all the liquor straight, never chase that

IMG_9276
If you'd have said to me, three years ago, 'Amy you'll soon be rocking socks and sandals,' I probably would've scoffed at you. But, here I am in all my socks and sandals glory, and I think it works. The fact that these sandals are gunmental holographic cleated soled beauties probably helps, a lot. The sock, sandal combo was worn for a day around Brighton with the fam. I didn't get many outfit shots as it was very busy (awkward) and my camera is more or less on its last legs, and thus the focus is majorly playing up!

I'd also like to apologise for the reappearance of the boyfriend jeans. Two outfit posts in a row.... that has got to be a fashion blogger cardinal sin! Sorry, they are just so darned comfortable. Speaking of comfortable I tweeted earlier that I'd hit 15,000 subscribers, feeling comfortable in the knowledge it was a sure thing (I had a screenshot and everything) and then 6 people unsubscribed. Major sad face. So if you fancy being a babe and subscribing to my channel, or tweeting my channel link out I would be very grateful!

Pride & Prejudice: Inspiration For Modern Fashion

To be fair, the actresses who play the Bennet sisters in the 2005 version of Pride & Prejudice probably could have worn Lady Gaga's "meat dress" and somehow still looked absolutely gorgeous. But there are some looks throughout the film that even those of us who aren't featured on the front of magazines can wear and look downright stunning doing so.

It's a film that's accurately described as "captivating" and a "saucy-but-brilliant tale" at PictureBox, which is perhaps why it's also one that was showered in praise and award nominations for makeup and costume at the Oscars and Golden Globes. While wearing a nearly identical outfit from the movie may get you a few stares as you walk down the street (and not necessarily in a good way), using pieces of the style for some modern inspiration can give you a unique look that will turn heads.

Pastel Green
The Bennet sisters are frequently seen wearing this colour throughout the film. The perfect colour for spring, it's light and feminine, and can add a flirty hint to a bohemian sundress, while still seeming modest. Elle suggests it will be one of the most popular colours this season for fabrics, as well as nails.

Long Silhouettes
Formal and casual dresses throughout the film are usually cinched just below the bust, with ribbon or fabric just a few inches thick. From there, the dress flows down freely, extending past floor length to create a small train appearance behind the wearer as they walk. With a modern twist, the same look is expected to be very popular this season. Dresses will have long, straight hemlines from the shoulder to the bottom of the dress. The style gives you a taller, leaner look.

Award-winning costume designer Jacqueline Durran was able to successfully give Elizabeth (Knightley) a sophisticated, feminine style using this particular look in the opening scene. While wearing her brown dress designed in this fashion, she had a romantic air to her that didn't overpower her character's tomboy side.

Floral Prints
The youngest of the Bennet sisters, Lydia and Kitty are frequently shown wearing floral print dresses. While at the time, this was seen as a style for younger girls, this spring, the Huffington Post suggests that the pattern can be worn by anyone without making you look like a young girl or a grandma. Instead of using neutral tones, patterns today are bold, using deep blacks, bright whites, cobalt blue, and neon pinks, greens, and oranges.

If it's been a while since you've seen the movie, take note of the hair and makeup throughout the film as well. There are plenty of styles shown that would complete your modern twist on this 1800s style.

First up let me state the obvious- I love me a good figure hugging outfit. Body con, skinny jeans and disco pants? Yep, send them my way. So, when I saw these boyfriend style jeans in Primark, and fell in love with them, I was shocked. They are one slouch away from a pair of joggers, comfort wise and I didn't think I could carry them off. But I ended up being unable to leave them in the shop and came home to find myself wearing them 24/7. To combine with my new slouchy look, I purchased this 'coatigan' an awkward hybrid of a coat/blazer and a cardigan. Soft tailoring at its best. I love it. Its totally laid back, but the pleather piping on the pockets and the executive striped detail of the fabric make it a bit more grown up and put together.

This was my outfit for afternoon tea and Easter Sunday spent at my Grandparents house. We did an egg hunt in the garden, with my cousins, and ended up looking for a 9th egg, my Grandad INSISTED existed, we were sceptical and eventually (after a fruitless search for the missing egg), checked the packet all the egg hunt eggs had come in and it turned out there was only 8, after all.

A Touch of Kate

I've been a fan of Swag Jewellers for a long time, I've bought various things from there (such as my beloved Pandora bracelet!) and they've always delivered a top notch, classy experience. So when I found out about their latest collection of Jewellery 'Terrific Tanzanite' its fair to say I experienced intense feelings of lust and longing.

The collection is made up of gorgeous pieces centring around the striking blue tanzanite stone, encased in white gold. Its expensive, but a girl can dream, right? It screams 'Kate Middleton' at me, as it reminds me of her engagement ring. Each of the pieces equally as elegant and exquisitely beautiful.

However, the star of the show is a cluster ring featuring a 9.45 carat pear cut tanzanite stone, mounted and embellished with incredible diamonds. Its breath taking! You can see it in the photo above, alongside my other favourites, a pretty, delicate drop pendant necklace and two large drop earrings. I'm thinking Kate Middleton meets Blair Waldorf. I also added some pieces next to the jewellery, showing how I would style these beautiful jewels!

What do you think of Swags Tanzanite collection?

Trek America #Blog4Trek FINAL

This post is my entry for the final of the #Blog4Trek, Trek America competition, which I got to with the help of all of you- so thank you! The final brief is to write a post detailing why we should be chosen to go on the trek. So, without further ado, here is why I should be chosen.

I began my blogging adventure as a way of exploring my creativity. Whether it was a beauty product, outfit or something I'd done, I wanted to blog it, in the most creative, interesting way possible so my followers could experience it just as I had done. I've blogged about a range of things from Lana Del Ray's controversial Mulberry bag (Ooh er) to more serious topics like mental health and my experiences with this. I've shared my personal photography, music I'm loving, books I'm reading and family holidays. I'd love the chance to take my blog and my followers along with me on Trek America's Westerner 2 trip and add 'blogging around America' to my list of experiences I've shared with my followers and the internet.

Blogging and everything that comes with it is a passion for me. I enjoy the entire process from the photographing to the writing of the post and then interacting with my readers after the post has gone live. I've experienced blogging as a blogger and as a blog reader. I've lived vicariously through the blog's I read and the things they've spoken about and now I'd like to take my followers on a whistle stop tour of America with myself and Trek America, through my own blog.

Blogs for me, can be just as engaging as stories you read in books, engulfing you and transporting you to another place. But, the amazing thing about blogs is they are free to read, accessible and you can be given the chance to learn about things you may not decide to pick up and read a book about, all because you feel connected to the person writing. You feel like you know them as a person, through their personal writings and that is what makes reading and writing blogs an incredible experience.

I think I should be given this opportunity because I pour my heart, body and soul into my blog posts. I pride my blog on being accessible, honest and whilst I've been told reading my blog 'is like talking to a friend' I also pride myself on finding a great balance, keeping my posts relaxed and friendly, yet also professional. I'd like to provide my personal account of the Westerner 2 Trek, through my eyes and my lens. I'll leave no experience left unexplained, no site left un-photographed, everything will be documented in the way I always do here on my blog, with a fun and personal twist on it.

I'd like to thank Trek America for this incredible opportunity and all my followers who 'liked' my photograph at stage two of the #Blog4Trek competition- you guys rock. Good luck to the other five contestants and hopefully I'll be seeing the Trek America team, soon! Fingers crossed,

You are my sweetest downfall, I loved you first

IMG_9141
I've been after a tartan coord for ages. I want to feel like Cher in Clueless, okay? So, when I stumbled across this beauty on Boohoo (ever better, in the sale!) I knew I had to own it. Its a simple soft cotton number, stretchy and comfortable but also cool. You don't have to think about this outfit in the morning, two matching pieces and boom, instant cool.

What could be better than a cute grey and pastal blue coord than pairing it with beautiful white cleated sole shoes? Probably nothing. I've been pairing these shoes with everything since they arrived (I pre ordered them from Glamorous) they are rubber soled, easy to walk in with PVC straps, I'm waxing lyrical, I know.

Wreck This Journal

Wreck This Journal by Keri Smith
After seeing Bee from VivaTramp talking about her Wreck This Journal, I decided to dig mine out. I've had it for a few years now- initially I bought one and got my ex boyfriend to get one too, we used to sneakily do pages together during Psychology AS Level. Its okay, I passed so I regret nothing. I've done quite a few pages, so if you'd like to see more, let me know!
I'm a massive fan of anything like this that helps get your creativity rolling, and the Wreck This Journal community is rife on the internet, with Flickr groups, Pinterest Boards and Tumblr tags all dedicated to showing pages, sharing ideas and getting people interested in being artsy. Do you own a Wreck This Journal?
