A Spring Walk

Last Sunday my two friends and I went on a Sunday walk. Living on the Sussex Downs and not making the most of the beautiful countryside seemed silly, so wrapped up, all three toting bobble hats and two SLRs, we set off in search of fresh air and the first of the Spring blossoms. This will be a slightly different, and not so fashion/beauty post but I hope you enjoy it just as much.

Of course it wasn't long before hilarity ensued in the form of a dramatic cow chase. We had to walk through a field of cows and one of them took a disliking to us and charged. Rosie ran in one direction and Amy and I in the other as the cow to chase. I have to admit, I have no idea of the protocol for being chased by cows-fight or flight?! But I decided to stop running just in time to see and capture the photo you see above- Amy, calming the cow down and stopping it from charging. It was one of the funniest sights and shes definitely earned the nickname 'the cow whisperer!'

Of course Amy and I were all over the first patch of daffodils we came across with our cameras. Snapping away we were and Rosie took a rather funny mobile phone photo of the two of us squatting -rather ungraciously, may I add- next to the patch of daffodils, intently capturing them on our cameras! Above are the shots I got.

Above are Amy's poses for her 'OOTD.' I think the last one is very 'Vogue' don't you? Amy has been thinking about starting her own blog and I think this is a great idea- leave some encouragement below. I've also added my latest Spring video to this post- the 'I heart Spring TAG' video as it seemed fitting, enjoy!

How am I gonna be an optimist about this?

IMG_3839
A day of shopping in Brighton is certainly a cure for any campus blues (we all suffer them from time to time!) and spending the time with my family was really nice as well. Regardless of the bitter winds. I had to wear a full on fur hat to keep my ears and head warm (but isn't it so lovely?)

This was actually a rather improvised outfit as I had gone home for a few days without any clothes (yup, I know!) and ended up wearing my sisters jumper, tights and my Mums hat! I also had a rather skint makeup bag (I'm talking a lipstick and a lipbalm- disgraceful.) So I had to work with little on that front too! Not sure how I did, but I'll let you be the judge of that.

Tropic Skincare Organic Elixir Oil Review

Tropic Skincare is an organic, natural and honest skincare company created in 2007 by Susan Ma and nurtured by both her and Lord Alan Sugar since they split the business 50/50 after Miss Ma's appearance on The Apprentice in 2011.

All of Tropics products are vegan and cruelty free which is a massive plus for me and my animal loving personality! So you can imagine my joy when a Tropic skincare product dropped through my letter box for me to review. Lets just say, I had high hopes.

Fortunately, I was not let down. I received Tropic's Organic Elixir Oil* which retails at £30 for 50ml and I'm happy to report has become a staple in my skin care routine since receiving it!

But what is it?
The Elixir Oil is a face and neck oil which aims to smooth, firm and brighten your skin to give you a more youthful and glowing complexion. I use it after cleansing and before my moisturiser by popping a few drops onto a cotton pad and wiping across my face.

What does is contain?
The most -excuse my language- badass ingredient is Moringa Oil which contains over 1,700 antioxidants! Phew, that is a lot! It also aids skin in rejuvenation, blemish control and helps to smooth wrinkles. Miracle worker? Yes. Definitely! However it also contains kiwi and pomegranate seed, as well as vitamin E- all very desirable in their own skincare rights.
But what do I think?
Simple, I love it. The gorgeous packaging which I'm proudly displaying on my dressing table is the start of a long list of positives. As soon as you apply the product (of which you only need a minimal amount) my skin felt better for it. The oil sank in pretty quickly leaving no greasy residue as I worry about with oils. It also made my skin feel moisturised and within a few days of use my skin already feels firmer and my dry patches are clearing up nicely (especially around my nose). This is a big plus for me as it means my foundation looks so much more natural and smooth when I am wearing it.

I love how quickly I've seen results with this product and I can already see its worth the £30. The minimal usage of the product (especially when applied using a cotton pad) means the product is going to last me ages, as well. I can't believe I never used a facial oil in my skin care routine before and I can promise you I won't stop in the foreseeable future!

Be sure to watch the above video for more information and clips of the product and thank you to Tropic for sending me the product.

All this time I was trying to be, James Dean, pristine

IMG_3802
The weather was slightly improved today, which warranted my new watercolour trousers and my Audrey Hepburn hat (aptly named, don't cha think?) Okay, so the hat wasn't really necessary, but it suited the trousers so perfectly I just couldn't separate them!

I posted on my blog facebook page that I wasn't sure if I'd be blogging much recently due to personal issues, but it looks like I just can't stay away at the moment. However, I would recommend liking my facebook page to get regular updates of my whens and wheres!

I'd also love to ask you a favour... if you enjoy my outfit posts here on The Camera's Lying, please nominate me for a Company Blogger Personal Style Award here. It would mean the world to me and I put a lot of effort into my outfit posts, making sure they are high quality, with good lighting and consistent.

I've been divvying in my darkness

So news flash, its snowing down in Brighton again. After all the 'Spring' posts I've been splashing all over The Camera's Lying how embarrassing! But at least that means I got to crack out the beanies again. This was today's outfit before I got in from lectures and crawled back into my fleecy pajamas. I plan on staying in them, drinking tea and watching Dexter. All. Evening. (No shame).

Dress: Romwe
Jacket: Vera&Lucy
Shoes: Office
Beanie Hat: Ebay
Watch: Radley
So I know this dress looks short, but I promise you I wore shorts underneath it- which totally makes it okay... right? I'd also love to ask you a favour... if you enjoy my outfit posts here on The Camera's Lying, please nominate me for a Company Blogger Personal Style Award here. It would mean the world to me and I put a lot of effort into my outfit posts, making sure they are high quality, with good lighting and consistent.

Spring 2013 Nail Polishes

With Spring just around the corner, I'm getting all a bit pastely and cutesy in terms of my nail polish colours. For the purposes of sating my need for Spring talons, I thought I would write a post, lets call it a nail polish mood board! I haven't included swatches, but its all on google for your eyes if you search it.

Left to Right: Nails inc. For InStyle, Topshop Nail Polish in 'World's End' and Ciate's Mojito (mini size).
Left to Right: *Nails inc. in 'Haymarket,' OPI in 'Parlez-Vous OPI?' and Models Own in 'Lemon Meringue.'

So cute, right? I'm a little bit in love with them all. I'm currently sporting Nails inc.'s Haymarket, one of their new shades and it makes me happy every time I look at my fingers! What colours are you wearing this Spring?

I handled my charm with time and slight of hand

IMG_3732
When you live by the sea, even the slightest hint of sunshine has people running for the beach. Myself included. So when I awoke on Tuesday to a fine Spring day, my friend, Amy (yep, another Amy!) and I ran down to the pebbles and pier to enjoy the first of the sun. We may have also done a bit of shopping, and eaten some doughnuts, but that is totally okay. Right?

Recovery

So remember last December? When I was tweeting about something 'exciting?' Well, this was it- I was an extra in a Frank Turner music video! I snapped this screen shot of one of the group scenes I'm in- bopping next to Franks elbow! It was such a fun day and Frank had a photo and a chat with all his extras after the filming- what a nice guy. Give the video a watch below- the song is fast becoming one of my favourites.

And of course, above is the photo of Frank and I. We are like 'this' now. Oh how I wish I wasn't kidding....
