Caudalie Event with Glossybox

I recently won tickets to the launch of Caudalie's new moisurising range, in a competition held by Glossybox. The evening was dubbed a 'VIP Event,' so suffice to say I was incredibly excited to go up to London to attend the event last Wednesday.

For those of you who don't know, Caudalie is a very famous French Skin Care brand, carried in their pharmacies. Skincare is a big business in France, yet Caudalie's 'natural AND effective' ethos continually brands them as a go to company. Caudalie was a home grown brand by Mathilde Thomas, inspired by her family vineyards and the grapes they grew there.

Caudalie promise their products contain 0% parabens, Sodium laureth Sulfate, Artificial Colourings and Phenoxyethanol meaning you can be sure you aren't putting anything nasty onto your skin.

The three pillar stones of the Caudalie brand are: The polyphenols from grape-seeds which are the most powerful anti-oxidant in the plant world. Resveratrol from grapevine stalks, a powerful anti aging ingredient. Viniferine from grapevine sap,a Natural molecule against dark skin spots.

At the event we were fed canapes and wine from the very vineyard which inspired the brand whilst also being given a chance to talk to experts from Caudalie about the products and sample them.

I came away with a Caudalie Beauty Elixir (a face spray used for makeup setting by Victoria Beckham) and my Mum (who came with me) chose their Tinted moisturizer. As a special promotion on the night we were given a pretty Parisian themed Caudalie tote bag, a Caudalie Lip Balm and a 10ml Caudalie Fragrance with our purchases.

I've been using the balm for two days now and I'm really impressed. Its so natural, we were told on the night you can actually eat it (if you want, of course ;)).

The highlight of the great evening was a talk from the founder herself, who told us about the brands history, new products and ethos. Overall I'm really impressed with Caudalie as a brand and I can't wait to try my Beauty Elixir (when it arrives). stay tuned for a review.

A whopping great 'Thank You' to Glossybox for the tickets and a shout out to the gorgeous Lily Pebbles  who I met on the night.

In other news, Random.org chose Rachel as my giveaway winner! Everybody check out her fab blog 'Rachel The Hat.' Well done!

Driving in your car, I never never want to go home

Today was spent chilling out with my boyfriend after a trip round town. We took some photographs for my flickr 52 week photography project  and Jimbo kindly took my outfit photos for me. I must admit, I changed my outfit soon after these were taken as it was getting a little nippy!

In other news I picked up two Maybelline 24hour Color tattoo's in 'Turquoise Forever' and 'On and On Bronze.' Lovely products but the names SUCK! Don't you think 'Bad to The Bronze' would be a more awesome name?

A little MAC haul

Over the past month I've had a bit of a makeup splurge. I definitely plan to remedy this with a bit of saving this month! However, I thought I'd do a little post on the MAC bits and pieces I picked up! Please let me know in the comments below if you'd like any more in depth reviews of any of these products. *Warning- this post is going to be a long one! I suggest grabbing a cup of tea and a digestive before settling down for this one.*

Item 1 -Satin Lipstick in 'Rebel'

I asked my MAC girl at my local counter- 'what lipstick would you say works well with my hair colour?' She picked up 'Rebel' almost instantly. Sometimes I think a fresh pair of eyes is good, as I often find myself picking up shades I already own or choosing the obvious brights like 'Ruby Woo' and 'Girl About Town.' 'Rebel' is a purple/red colour I wouldn't have chosen myself. Yet it works perfectly with my hair AND makes my teeth look white. Can you tell I'm more of a bright lippy gal than a nude lover?

Item 2- Lipglass in 'Oyster Girl'

I love this shade, its great for everyday wear and isn't sticky at all. Definitely making me love lipglosses more than before!

Item 3- Sheertone Shimmer Blush in 'Plum Foolery'

This wasn't actually a new purchase, it came from a blog sale. I think blog sales are a great way of getting products to try for a lot cheaper than the new price.Plus I find bloggers 100X more reliable than eBay sellers. This blush is great for nights out or for when I'm tanned as it is quite a shimmery, sparkly blush.

Item 4 -Lustre Eyeshadow in 'Idol Eyes'

This is probably the purchase I'm least happy with. It looks so promising in pan but the colour pay off is so poor! I find spraying my makeup brush before applying helps pick up more pigment but it still takes a second application to get the look I would like in one! However, it IS a pretty colour and a welcome addition to my collection.

Item 5- Tendertone in 'Tread Gently'

I tried, so hard, to resist the call of the Tendertones return. But alas, I failed. The fruity lipbalms had me reaching for my wallet happily. I chose 'Tready Gently' because it applies very sheer. I didn't want too much pigmentation as I enjoy using Tendertones over my lipsticks.

Item 6- MAC Fix +
Would you believe before this purchase I never set my makeup? I just felt that it was an unnecessary step in my day to day routine, and since I prime anyway -what was the difference? Well MAC Fix + is the difference. My makeup feels invincible with this bad boy and its also super for moistening brushes before use/ refreshing your face during hot days!

Swatch Time!
Have you made any sneaky MAC purchases recently?

Hold the line! The love isn't always on time

I took today's outfit photos after doing a shoot on the local common for my photography exam. Being fairly early in the morning and in a secluded spot, I thought my shoot would be fairly undisturbed. Alas, no. The dog walkers seemed to appear in myriads as soon as I set out my tripod! I didn't mind so much until a middle aged guy asked me if I was from the local college. When I said yes he asked me 'are there lots of young girls out today, or just you?' It was just me and safe to say I moved nearer the public footpath after that little encounter!

The Very Best of The Underground Jewelry Market #1

Welcome to my new feature: 'The Very Best of The Underground Jewelry Market.' I plan to shed light on unique and interesting Bigcartel and Etsy shops and encourage my readers to spend money on smaller, more thoughtful shops than the giants of jewelry such as Topshop, Urban Outfitters and Primark. The feature will include a little interview with each shop's founders and a personal review from me on some of their products on sale. I love to buy from smaller, online jewelry shops as you can guarantee you won't come into work or college wearing the same piece as anyone else! You also get a more personalized service including pretty packaging. You can't go wrong.

Introducing the first Featurette: Delilah Dust Bigcartel Shop.

Interview with Antonia, Delilah Dust's creator:

How long have you had your online shop and what inspired you to start?
I set up Delilah Dust in November 2011, after several months trying to decide what to sell! I eventually decided on jewellery, as I can't leave the house without a bracelet or a necklace on! So, with the help of my sister Dominique, I started up a website with 4 products, which is gradually expanding!

How would you describe your designs?

Simple, yet unique - perfect for everyday wear, or as little gifts for friends and family.

Where do you hope to take your work in the future?
In the next few years, I would love to have a wide range of jewellery products selling on my website, and I have so many ideas I'd love to try out. I eventually would love to own my own store and vintage tearoom, as I also love baking!

The Products:

The items arrived B E A utifully packaged. The classy silver card shows off the products perfectly and I love the sweet little hearts punched out.

 Love Bracelet in 'Scarlet' -£3.50
Feather Wish Bracelet in 'Olive' -£3.50
 Infinity Bracelet in 'Lavender' -£4.00
The bracelets are all designed to tie around the wrist so they can accommodate wrists of all sizes and can be worn as loose or tight as you like. They look sweet layered together or alone and I think they would make the most perfect gifts for friends or family. They come in a range of designs and you can choose the colour of your tie from a selection of 14 different colours. I love how dainty these designs are and I haven't taken them off since I put them on! Delilah Dust also do necklaces so be sure to check out their website, here.

Delilah Dust are also giving 10% of sales to Breast Research until 1st April 2012 so make sure you put in an order quick- a treat for you AND a good deed. Win/win situation as far as I can see.

People throw rocks at things that shine

Tuesdays are never my day. They never have been and probably never will be, all my worst subjects seem to get timetabled for Tuesdays. I did, however get to see my boyfriend today which was a nice surprise and brightened my day considerably. I was also pleasantly surprised to find out later that I won a pair of tickets to the Caudalie and Glossybox event next Wednesday -I rarely win anything so this made me smile! Thank you so much Glossybox!

Photography Feature: The First Day of Spring

Happy first day of Spring lovelies! I thought I'd compile a mood board of beautiful Spring photography from some of my favourite Flickr photographers. Click the photo and give the photographers a comment of favourite to let them know you appreciate their work as much as I do.

Personally, I am thinking of starting a little photography project of my own- the 52 weeks photography challenge. One photo a week for a year. If all goes to plan, I'm hopinh to start the 365 photograph challenge (a photograph a day for a year) so this will be good practice. It will also be good for helping my development as a photographer myself and hopefully I will find a 'photographical style' of my own. Please comment below if you would like to see some of these photographs posted below.
